Goals & Objectives

Increase Effectiveness of Campus/Community Coalitions.

  • Each campus-community coalition will have a problem statement.
  • Each campus-community coalition will have a strategic plan. (Problem oriented, goals, evidence-based).
  • Each campus-community coalition will have regular meetings (at least once every two months).
  • Each campus-community coalition will use evidence-based practices, i.e., environmental approaches.

Campus-community coalitions will receive technical training to coalitions leaders will receive technical training at least once a year, i.e.; Prevention First Conference.

  • Training and technical assistance will target the college population.
  • Specialized information will be presented on how to conduct evaluations on campus-community prevention initiatives.
  • Increase campus-community knowledge about college AOD-related issues.

    • Increase campus-community knowledge about FHE-ASAP through continuous dialogue with campus and community leaders via meetings, e-mails, and media advocacy.
    • Increase public awareness about campus successes on AOD issues through PR campaigns, attending meetings, and continuous collaboration with other administrators and community leaders.
    • Increase community participation in campus prevention efforts through attending campus-community meetings, and participating in technical trainings.
    • Increase the legislative knowledge/awareness about FHE-ASAP efforts through collaborating with other political organizations at the state and local level.
    • Enlist presidential support for various policy initiatives i.e., underage drinking, drink specials, alcohol advertising at sporting events etc.

    Rank state AOD policies according to effectiveness, feasibility of policy being passed, timing, and collaborative opportunities.

    • Complete a state inventory of AOD policies by July 1, 2009.
    • Complete a local inventory of AOD policies by July 1, 2009.
    • Collaborate with other partners and organizations to achieve policy goals.
